Job description
Join a high-impact mission team supporting the secure, uninterrupted availability of the DoD's mobile device service. As a System Administrator, you will play a critical role in configuring, sustaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-level Windows and Linux servers, and network appliances. You'll be part of a collaborative Network Operations team supporting a secure infrastructure environment with performance-critical voice and data services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and sustain systems across Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and other infrastructure appliances.
- Assist end-users with VPN connectivity and account/device management support.
- Implement updates and security patches for enterprise systems.
- Troubleshoot performance anomalies and provide technical resolutions.
- Contribute to SOPs and internal knowledge base documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support after-hours incidents as needed.
- Suggest process improvements and environment optimization.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience or Master's degree with less than 2 years of related experience. Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Active DoD Secret clearance; must obtain Security+ CE within 6 months.
- Experience troubleshooting software, networking, Windows or Linux OS.
- Skilled in system administration: install, maintain, monitor, recover, upgrade, patch.
- Able to research solutions beyond standard procedures.
- Eager to work across technologies and learn new tools.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Desired Qualifications (not required, but a huge plus):
- Network device experience (firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs).
- Scripting or automation tool familiarity.
- Virtualization experience (VMWare ESX/ESXi, vCenter, vSphere).
- Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, SQL, SCCM, SELinux.
- Knowledge of STIGs, vulnerability management, and air-gapped environments.
- Vendor certifications (Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, Cisco, etc.) are a major plus.
