Job description

Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently have a vacancy for a IT System Administrator to work a Full Time schedule. In this position an IT System Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and support of Burcham Hills' enterprise technology and networking infrastructure. This position ensures the reliability, availability, and security of servers, workstations, Microsoft 365 services, networking systems, cloud platforms, endpoint devices, and business-critical applications supporting clinical and administrative operations. The IT Systems Administrator provides technical support, manages day-to-day IT operations, assists with cybersecurity initiatives, and works closely with the IT Manager (HIPAA Security Officer) to maintain compliance with HIPAA Security Rule requirements and organizational security standards. This position participates in on-call support and assists with disaster recovery, business continuity, technology projects, and infrastructure improvements supporting a 24/7 healthcare environment. In addition to but not limited to the following duties:
Infrastructure Administration (Ownership)
  • Administer Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers.

Enterprise Infrastructure
  • Server lifecycle management
  • DNZ zone management
  • DHCP scope administration

Endpoint Management
  • Deploy and maintain Windows and macOS devices.
  • Manage endpoint security platforms including Sophos Central.
  • Encryption management (Bitlocker/FileVault)
  • Utilize Automox for operating system and third-party application patch management.

Network Administration
  • Support Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, firewalls, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.

Identity and Access Management
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts.
  • Manage Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience and/or industry certifications are accepted.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in IT support or systems administration is required.
