Job Summary:

The Associate State Product Manager supports the development and execution of state-specific business strategies for the Personal Lines portfolio, focusing on financial planning, market development, and strategic alignment to drive performance goals.
Responsibilities:
• Support State Manager in executing state strategies by assisting with financial planning, rate reviews, and market development initiatives.
• Prepare and analyze reports on product performance, pricing, underwriting trends, and market dynamics to identify risks and opportunities.
• Assist in developing planning documents and review materials for monthly and quarterly state performance meetings.
• Integrate competitive intelligence into recommendations that inform pricing and product positioning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Operations, Claims, Pricing, Underwriting, Legal, IT, Product Development) to ensure timely execution of initiatives.
• Coordinate and track project timelines to support speed-to-market for updates and enhancements.
• Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to State Manager and stakeholders, adjusting approach based on audience.
• Develop foundational knowledge of assigned state markets and competitor strategies to support decision-making.
• Participate in professional development and mentorship opportunities, building skills for future leadership roles.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, risk management, economics, finance, accounting, business administration or related field
• Six years of experience in underwriting or product
• Knowledge of core business functions and detailed knowledge of commercial lines insurance products and pricing architecture, state regulations, underwriting procedures and standard methodologies
• Solid understanding of financials, trend analysis and competitor data
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to present information, communicate and influence internal and external partners at all levels
• Must be skilled in the use of related systems and analytical tools
• Ability to work towards results, deal with ambiguity, solve problems, learn on the job, make quality decisions, see trends and patterns within data
• Ability to lead projects, opposing priorities, timelines and resources to complete work
Preferred:
• P&C industry experience preferred in State Management
• Progress toward or completion of CPCU, AU CIC, INS ARM, Actuarial exams or similar designations
• Cross-functional experience from other areas and experience with data analysis
• Proficiency in analytical tools, relational databases, data visualization techniques, query-based language and/or statistical software experience
