MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Administrator. This position is based in Linthicum Heights, MD.

As a Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and securing systems that support national security. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of cryptographic hardware and software solutions, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safeguarding sensitive data for the Department of Defense and the Community.
 

This role supports the Cryptographic Solutions Program, providing essential technical expertise for National Security Systems (NSS) cryptographic products.
 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Administer mixed Windows/Linux server infrastructure (primarily Linux).
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of cryptographic hardware and software solutions.
  • Develop and enforce encryption standards for data at rest and in transit, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of cryptographic measures and perform vulnerability assessments to identify potential weaknesses.
  • Work closely with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity analysts to integrate cryptography into existing systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of cryptographic policies, procedures, and system configurations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required; An additional 5 years of related experience might be substituted for a degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems administration, systems engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Department of Defense (DoD) IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or equivalent. Candidates without this credential must obtain it within 60 days of their start date.
  • Experience supporting Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cryptography, security devices, and information security practices.
  • Experience managing and maintaining server infrastructure across the full SDLC, including Development, Testing, Acceptance, and Production (DTAP) environments.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Non-Production (NSYS) systems and implementing automated Deployment Gates (DTAG) to ensure stable releases.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard encryption algorithms, such as Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA), and best practices for secure key generation, distribution, and storage.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Current/Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and/or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations
