Senior Underwriter (Workers’ Compensation) - Full-time
Location: Spring Valley, NY
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance experience with at least 3 years of Workers’ Compensation underwriting individual accounts.
Demonstrates accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and provide a high level of customer service.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments.
Ability to assess business opportunities with brokers and clients by understanding their problems and needs.
Efficient management of accounts.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Effective organizational skills.
Proficiency in Internet software and Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Job Description
Underwrite and grow a profitable book of business based on eligibility, loss analysis, exposure analysis, class code, and reinsurance acceptability.
Review Due Diligence reports, Loss control surveys, loss runs, and timeliness of premium payments.
Delegate activities of underwriting assistants and manage their response to compliance issues and requests from internal departments and external entities.
Present accounts to management for underwriting approval, accompanied by the appropriate underwriting data and recommendations.
Stay current with rules and regulations, market conditions, and corporate underwriting disciplines.
