Job Description:

Title: Accounting Manager, Controller, Surgical

Location: Austin, TX

Overview: Responsible to lead the Accounting of the DJO Surgical business, including monthly close, Balance Sheet reconciliations, controls, audit support and technical accounting. Directly manages commissions and partners with shared services teams on AP, AR and payroll processes.

Key skills/experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• Minimum 7 years + in a corporate accounting or public accounting equivalent environment
• Intermediate knowledge of Accounting
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple workstreams, while prioritizing the critical items
• Ability to effectively communicate with individuals across functions and at all organizational levels, including executive management and global personnel
• Proficient in US GAAP
• Experienced in Oracle
• Experienced in HFM

Essential duties include, but not limited to,

• Lead, train and develop a senior accountant and a senior commissions analyst
• Drive the day-to-day accounting activities of Surgical business in line with Company financial objectives
• Responsible for proper accounting and controls in line with US GAAP and company policies
• Own balance sheet and ensure accounting compliance with US GAAP
• Lead monthly close to ensure timely and accurate financials
  • Plan, coordinate and track close
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand and analyze accounting of business processes
• Responsible for controls and control environment
  • Ensure timely documentation of controls and reviews
  • Educate business partners and champion strong control environment, ensure US GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Act as a primary interface to internal and external audits
• Oversee and review commissions, collaborate with cross-functional partners in sales operations and sales organizations to manage the commission process
• Support decision making, including technical accounting support for business processes and acquisitions
• Partner with FP&A team to minimize surprises
• Partner with shared services on AP and AR
• Collaborate with corporate accounting to ensure policy compliance and internal reporting

Continuous improvement initiatives

• Implement continuous improvement initiatives surrounding the forecast process including forward-looking trend analysis and establishing leading indicators to drive forecast attainment
• Maintain oversight of standard operating procedures for each of the ongoing finance workstreams that supports the business
• On an as needed basis, may be asked to assist other members of the finance team in new system implementation efforts, research projects, and new transaction, merger, or acquisition evaluation, accounting and integration
• Maintain SOP documentation of the financial work streams of the group
• Establish sustainable and scalable processes
