Job description

**This is a direct hire, onsite position, with our client based in Carlsbad, California. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. **
Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller to lead accounting operations and support continued growth. This role suits an experienced accounting leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building processes and improving systems.
Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Corporate Controller will oversee the accounting function, own the financial close, lead cost and inventory accounting, strengthen internal controls, and support external reporting. The role offers strong visibility across finance, operations, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Own all aspects of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and inventory controls.
  • Manage standard costing, variance analysis, bill of materials (BOM), and work-in-process (WIP) accounting.
  • Oversee general ledger activities and preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and audit-ready processes.
  • Support external reporting requirements and readiness for future compliance initiatives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, engineering, supply chain, operations, and manufacturing teams.
  • Lead accounting process improvements and identify opportunities for automation and scalability.
  • Manage and mentor accounting personnel while helping build a high-performing finance organization.
  • Establish and refine accounting processes to support expanding manufacturing operations.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner while remaining willing to dive into day-to-day accounting activities when needed.
Qualifications
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Previous Controller or Assistant Controller experience.
  • Strong background in manufacturing accounting.
  • Deep expertise in cost accounting and inventory accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with standard costing, inventory controls, variance analysis, BOM management, and WIP accounting.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting practices.
  • Demonstrated success improving accounting processes and building scalable financial operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
