Job summary:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Plant Controller will manage and administer all division accounting and finance functions. This involves leading timely, accurate and complete submission of all financial data including monthly financial results, annual budgets, monthly forecasting and monthly financial analysis; understanding and explaining variances to all levels of Management as well as advising on actions to achieve improved results and overall recommendations for improvement. The position will work closely with other accounting staff and Department Managers/Supervisors on accounting related issues. The position will also be a business partner for the plant operations team.
This is an onsite/hybrid role based in our Bristol, PA plant.

Key Responsibilities include:

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer all plant accounting functions
  • Responsible for the monthly financial close process, including preparing and/or reviewing and inputting journal entries, account analysis and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Implement and maintain accounting processes, procedures, and related internal controls
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs; analyze variances
  • Continuously evaluate the Company's inventory and cost accounting processes and make recommendations to improve the efficiency and accuracy of those processes in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Cycle counting process ownership, organize and schedule physical inventory counts at various times throughout the year (at least annually). Partner with purchasing, operations, and supply chain to manage accurate inventory balances.
  • Assist with the review of inventory transactions and resolve any discrepancies identified
  • Responsible for budgeting and forecast process
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with budget and forecasts
  • Assist in coordinating with outside auditors to ensure a successful year-end audit
  • Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking
  • Analyze customer profitability and operational performance
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards in collaboration with IT
  • Work with Plant Operations teams to monitor and control expenses, develop and implement enhanced metrics, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as required
  • Work with Plant Operations and FP&A teams to support capital spending requirements and justifications. 
  • Track, validate and report cost savings and value creation projects to drive continuous cost improvements
  • Ensure compliance with all Company, Accounting and Government Standards, Policies and Regulations
  • Work with Corporate Controller to evaluate and implement new accounting guidance
  • Build solid collaborative working relationships within Finance team and across the organization
  • Ability to identify business improvement opportunities and work as a partner with operations, manufacturing, and sales to capitalize on those opportunities
  • Some travel may be required (< 5%)
  • Manage governmental compliance and regulatory changes

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of accounting experience preferably with manufacturing and possessing a working knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, bill of materials (BOM), and routing processes
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related business field; a Master's Degree, CPA, or CMA is highly valued
  • Adept with ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package software is essential, including advanced knowledge of Excel formulas and functions
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Strong business and accounting acumen
  • Must be assertive, self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge and ability to create reports via access queries, crystal reports, or other reporting tools
  • Critical to be someone who can roll up the sleeves and do whatever it takes - a doer, not a delegator, but also lead and grow team
  • Need to be someone who is willing to take initiative and independent in order to "figure it out" and follow through to make sure tasks are completed
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality of information to Company and Federal standards.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be dependable and work within Company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.

  • Office environment; use of computer, copier, etc.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (consistently)
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 40 lbs. (intermittently)
  • Minimal travel may be required for conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment if in the production areas

The salary range indicated in the posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position's qualifications. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components may include participation in our bonus program, group health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan, paid time off, and paid holidays.
