Our Bend Public House is recruiting for a talented and experienced Sous Chef, who is driven, excels in a fast-paced kitchen, and is committed to the highest standards of quality and presentation with a guest first focus. This person will serve as a leader on our BOH leadership team, and is responsible for oversight of Back of House (BOH) functions, including expediting, food preparation, ordering, scheduling, cost management, training, and employee development. . This is a full-time benefited position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, ESOP, and paid vacation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and motivation to all Back of House (BOH) employees to maintain our quality standards and expected presentation; teach cooking techniques, food preparation and plating
  • Create daily food specials from scratch
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment
  • Mentor and train all BOH staff, ensuring Deschutes Brewery quality standards are met
  • Manage all kitchen operations in the executive chef's absence

Requirements:
  • 5 years of line cooking experience, preferably in a fast-paced, full service establishment
    • 2+ years kitchen management experience preferred
  • Valid Oregon food handlers or Serve safe card
  • Valid OLCC permit within 30 days of hire
  • Solid math skills in scaling and metric conversion
  • Outgoing, positive and supportive leader
  • Ability to trouble shoot equipment issues and provide basic maintenance support to kitchen facilities
  • Skilled knowledge of excel and common restaurant software
  • Culinary education or equivalent experience with scratch and batch cooking preferred
