Job Description
The Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard is looking for outstanding postdoctoral scholars to join the laboratory of Morgan Sheng, Co-Director of the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, The mission of the Stanley Center is to improve the lives of patients suffering from serious mental illnesses, through groundbreaking basic and translational research. Based on unprecedented insights into the genetic basis of psychiatric diseases, the Stanley Center aims to uncover key disease mechanisms and discover novel therapeutics.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group and perform cutting-edge basic and/or translational research on the molecular, cellular and neurobiological mechanisms of psychiatric disorders, especially in relation to risk genes for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, synapse development/elimination, synaptic function/plasticity, neuron-glia interactions, and neural circuitry/interneurons. He/she would address fundamental scientific questions, formulate hypotheses, design and execute experiments, interpret data, and write and publish original papers, often in teamwork with other lab members and external collaborators.

REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, computational biology, or related field
- Completion of at least one research project as evidenced by one or more first author research articles published or submitted to a well-recognized peer-reviewed journal
- Basic laboratory methods of molecular cell biology, imaging, and/or electrophysiology,
- Self-motivation and rigorousness in experimental research
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to work independently and interact cooperatively with others
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Expertise in computational/bioinformatics approaches to biological problems
- Experience of data-rich experimental techniques, such as single cell RNAseq, ATACseq, MS proteomics, functional genomic screens, high content imaging
- Animal handling and brain histology
