Job Description

The Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory Group Leader is responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations while remaining actively engaged in hands-on analytical testing. This individual will lead a team performing large molecule bioanalytical assays and ensure compliance with cGMP standards, data integrity requirements, and client expectations.

This is a highly visible role combining technical expertise, team leadership, and operational oversight within a fast-paced clinical bioanalysis environment.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory & Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform benchtop testing of large molecules using ELISA, MCE, and iCIEF assays
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and inventory levels
  • Ensure adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) across all records
  • Collect, process, and document raw analytical data
  • Utilize LIMS for sample tracking and result documentation
  • Conduct peer review of assay execution and data
  • Collaborate with data reviewers to resolve discrepancies or retesting needs
  • Maintain accurate records in notebooks, logbooks, and electronic systems
  • Support laboratory safety initiatives, including walkthroughs and compliance documentation

Leadership & Operational Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of laboratory scientists
  • Manage daily workflow, scheduling, and team capacity
  • Oversee cross-training to ensure operational flexibility
  • Monitor and report productivity and quality metrics
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and client teams
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees
  • Deliver technical training and ensure ongoing staff development
  • Conduct safety walkthroughs and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support overtime and weekend scheduling as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 1 year of cGMP experience
  • Minimum 1 years of leadership experiencem (professional or academically) 
  • Hands-on experience with immunoassays and electrophoresis techniques
  • Strong experience with quantitative data analysis
  • Proficiency with LIMS or similar data management systems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

What to Expect in the Hiring Process: 

  • 10-15 Minute Phone Interview with Region Recruiter
  • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or a Group Leader
  • 30 Minute Virtual Meeting with the Site Director 

Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, First Shift, Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Rensselear, New York, are encouraged to apply
