Description
Job Summary:
The Yard Support Technician is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, inspecting, and maintaining portable restroom units to ensure they meet high hygiene and operational standards. This role involves using equipment such as forklifts (Donkeys) for loading and unloading, restocking supplies, performing minor repairs, and organizing the yard for efficient storage. The technician also assists with large event deliveries and supports Portable Restroom Drivers as needed, contributing to overall operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize portable restrooms both inside and outside to uphold a high level of hygiene and appearance.
- Inspect and perform necessary repairs on portable restrooms to address damage, wear, or malfunction ensuring optimal working condition before deployment for rental.
- Utilize appropriate equipment, including a Donkey (forklift), to load and unload portable restrooms onto delivery trucks, adhering to safety protocols.
- Replenish supplies within portable restrooms, including toilet paper and hand sanitizer as required.
- Organize and arrange the yard area, optimizing the placement of portable restrooms and equipment for efficient access and storage.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks on portable restroom units, such as component replacement, fixture repair, and addressing minor mechanical issues.
- Assist in unit delivery for large special events, ride alongside our trailer pullers and assist in loading and unloading units, one to two days per week.
Required Skills:
- Ability to thoroughly clean and inspect portable restrooms, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Basic knowledge of tools and mechanical systems to perform minor repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate a Donkey for loading and unloading units; will train on our equipment.
- Capable of lifting and maneuvering heavy units and equipment; able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Ability to arrange the yard area efficiently for quick access and inventory management.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols during cleaning, lifting, and equipment operation.
- Willingness to assist with event setup and collaborate with drivers and other team members.
- Able to prioritize tasks and maintain productivity during high-volume periods.
- Able to identify issues with units and perform quick, effective fixes or escalate when needed.
- Clear and courteous communication with coworkers and supervisors, especially when assisting with events and deliveries.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Previous experience in sanitation, maintenance, warehouse, or yard work is a plus.
- Forklift/Donkey experience preferred; certification is an asset but not required (training will be provided).
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with repairs and tools is helpful.
- Experience working outdoors or in physically demanding environments is beneficial.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds frequently.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Must be able to climb in and out of trucks and on/off equipment safely.
- Comfortable working around strong cleaning products, odors, and sanitation equipment.
- Must be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, boots, and eye protection.
