Your working environment:

The Generator Engineering Service Team is responsible for engineering support for all planned activities associated with Outages, Parts, Repairs and Upgrades. This support spans from tender to execution stages for generators globally.

Based in Rugby, the role holder will execute the technical direction for full manufacture, upgrade and repairs of generator components within the service workshop. This includes implementation of new products and processes and solutions for emergent/rectification work - as well as providing outage planning support, including the creation of documentation for unit outages on generator systems and solutions to technical queries from the site team during ongoing outages and providing repair solutions.

Stakeholder management and developing a technical network within the generator service and new equipment global engineering teams in France and Sweden is critical.

Your role and impact within theteam:

  • Technical lead for designing tooling for manufacturing processes for generator products
  • Producing 3D modelling and 2D drawings for tooling and parts
  • Issuing and communicating detailed manufacturing instructions for generator parts and assembly activity to other key stakeholders.
  • Leading the implementation of new manufacturing processes.
  • Defining workscope and issue engineering instructions for emergent and rectification work.
  • Creating Production Orders containing technical drawings, quality plans and material specifications for part structures in ERP system.
  • Leading Root Cause Analysis and other methods to support problem resolution
  • Outage planning support including creation of outage documentation on generator systems
  • Technical specialist and answering technical queries from the site team during ongoing outages, providing repair solutions
  • Considering EHS aspects in design & maintenance design and manufacturing.
  • Understanding project requirements and plan execution of work to deliver expertise at cost, on quality and on time
  • Championing a transparent and inclusive environment.
  • Building good customer relationships, especially with local customers to understand their future needs and expectations
  • Support Sales organization with technical input and to participate in customer meetings to support new opportunities
  • Provide technical assurance and rigor for given tasks

Your profile:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a suitable technician qualification and experience.
  • Experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment demonstrating successful delivery of engineering work
  • Ability to use and configure IT tools for managing technical tasks, in particular CAD.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and in writing.
  • Proficient in MS Office
