Job description

Description:
We are looking to hire a Hardware Engineer to support a local client. The team is facing a severe bit error rate problem on a high-speed board, which has remained unresolved for months despite ongoing efforts, and we are seeking an experienced engineer to help solve it. The required skills include high-speed board design, experience with bit error rate testers (BERTs), familiarity with high-speed scopes, understanding of phase noise, CDR, Serdes, and PAM4 signaling, with analog and RF analog experience preferred over digital or layout-only backgrounds.
Job Duties could include:
  • Lead design validation and debug of 56G PAM4/NRZ SerDes links; drive rootcause and solution.
  • Operate highspeed scopes (Keysight DCAX/N1000), BERT/pattern generators, TDR/TDT; execute BER/eye/compliance.
  • Analyze jitter (Rj/Dj/Pj), CDR behavior, and phase noise impacts; recommend mitigation.
  • Evaluate channels: Sparameters, deembedding, equalization (CTLE/DFE), loss/crosstalk.
  • Collaborate on schematic/layout changes (backdrill, launch, stackup) and support quickturn respins.
  • Document test plans, results, and changes; communicate tradeoffs and status.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • BSEE or similar
  • Hardware/PCB design, specifically high speed board design
  • Bit error rate testers (BERTs)
  • Understanding of phase noise, CDR, Serdes, and PAM4 signaling, with analog and RF analog experience preferred over digital or layout-only backgrounds
  • Nice to have: automation (Python/SCPI), Ethernet/PCIe compliance; powernoise awareness for PLL/SerDes rails, as well as power supply design
  • Onsite presence required (hybrid somewhat as needed; must be able to come in when lab work dictates)
Local talent to PDX and the PNW will be the focus. Please submit clearly qualified resume for consideration.
