Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Underwriting Assistant to join our Middle Market Package team. This role is essential to supporting the underwriting lifecycle; from submission through issuance, while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our underwriting operations. You'll work closely with underwriters and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality service and technical expertise.
What you'll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Provide critical support to underwriters on end-to-end processes underwriting processes, from initial submission review through policy issuance and post-bind activities
- Operate and maintain proficiency in various underwriting systems
- Manage multiple workflows and maintain visibility into task status and deadlines
- Assist in creating quotes, binders, certificates, and endorsements
- Ensure all documentation is properly filed and compliant with audit standards
- Review policies and discuss changes with underwriters
- Mentor and train newer Underwriting Assistants
- Conduct quarterly peer audit reviews
- Support report preparation and distribution for managers and underwriters
- Monitor account receivables and assist the accounting team with reconciliation
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing for system enhancements
- Contribute to special projects and assignments as needed
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- College Degree Preferred
- Some technical experience in an insurance/reinsurance company
- Solid understanding of Middle MarketQuoting - which premium should we be using? The quote screen premium or the actual premium of everything added up
- Coding - what is the best way for ESS to code and account for any discrepancies?
- The policies - how should we handle the dec page and all the premium discrepancies there?
- Endorsements - what happens when one of these vehicles is removed? What should we be returning?
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including pivot tables), Outlook, and Word; PowerPoint a plus
- Robust organization, prioritization, and time management skills
- Ability to work self-dircted and collaboratively within a team environment

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 76,300 - 108,700.
Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
