What is a training program?

Training programs are organized learning experiences designed to improve the skills, knowledge, and performance of employees or participants. These programs can be conducted in various formats, such as workshops, seminars, online courses, or on-the-job training. They are often tailored to specific job roles or industries and aim to help individuals adapt to new technologies, enhance their competencies, or comply with industry standards. Effective training programs contribute to both personal development and organizational success by keeping skills current and boosting productivity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a training programs manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Training Programs Manager, you need expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and adult learning principles, often supported by a degree in education, HR, or a related field. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and relevant certifications such as CPTD or ATD are typically required. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills help you engage learners and coordinate with stakeholders effectively. These skills are essential to design impactful training experiences that drive employee development and organizational growth.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals managing training programs, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals overseeing training programs often encounter challenges such as ensuring participant engagement, measuring training effectiveness, and adapting content to diverse learning styles. To address these, it's helpful to incorporate interactive elements, regularly solicit feedback, and use a mix of in-person and digital learning methods. Collaborating closely with subject matter experts and leveraging data analytics can also help tailor programs and demonstrate their impact to stakeholders.

Our Company
We believe Running Changes Everything. If you believe that, too, we want to talk. With more than 280 stores and a robust e-commerce site, Fleet Feet is the largest running retailer in the country. Catering to more than runners, we pride ourselves on having an inclusive environment! We believe it's a privilege to serve and to deliver unmatched service and support when outfitting every customer. We run together to solve problems, reach goals, encourage others and champion our brand.
Overview:
Fleet Feet is looking for an enthusiastic and organized Training Program Coordinator to help bring our community-based running and walking programs to life. In this role, you'll support the execution of training programs, coordinate logistics and communications, and ensure participants feel welcome, motivated, and part of something meaningful.
From organizing group runs to managing communication and supporting program operations, you'll be at the heart of helping people achieve their goals. If you're passionate about movement, community, and helping others thrive, this role is for you.
If you're ready to make a difference in the lives of runners and walkers in your community, we'd love to meet you. Apply today and help us inspire the runner in everyone, one training program at a time.
What You'll Do:
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of Fleet Feet training programs and running clubs.
  • Communicate with participants, coaches, and volunteers about schedules, updates, and program milestones.
  • Ensure all training events are set up properly and create a warm, inclusive environment for all attendees.
  • Track attendance, feedback, and participant progress to enhance program quality.
  • Help manage volunteer and coach schedules to ensure sessions are well-supported.
  • Provide on-site support at training sessions, including check-in, hydration stations, and warm-ups.
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts to grow program visibility and participation.
  • Stay connected to the customer experience by working in-store weekly and sharing program updates with staff and customers.

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in customer service, coaching, fitness instruction, or event coordination.
  • Passion for running, walking, fitness, and building inclusive community spaces.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Energetic, positive, and comfortable engaging with individuals and groups.
  • Adaptable, able to multitask, and confident in problem-solving in a fast-paced setting.

Why You'll Love It Here:
  • Purpose-Driven Work: Help people meet fitness goals and find community through movement.
  • Community Impact: Be a connector and motivator in a supportive, local running community.
  • Collaborative Team Culture: Work with a passionate group of retail and training program professionals.
  • Hands-On Role: Be active and engaged both in-store and out in the community.
  • Personal Growth: Gain experience in event coordination, coaching support, and customer service.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) with 4% Company Match: Available to employees aged 21+ at company-owned stores.
  • Exclusive Discounts: Enjoy savings on industry-leading products and specialized training programs.
  • Professional Development: Grow your career through mentorship opportunities, employee resource groups, and ongoing learning sessions designed to help you reach your full potential.
  • Community Engagement: Get involved in local outreach and service initiatives that align with our purpose-driven mission.

We are an equal opportunity employer and believe having teams in which everyone brings their whole self to Fleet Feet is key to our success. We welcome people of all backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives. Our commitment to inclusion is reflected in our hiring practices, workplace culture, and community engagement.
