Our client is looking for a Human Resource Generalist in Dundee, MI!
This is a contract opportunity with potential for extension or direct hire. 100% Onsite
This position is first shift, but will need flexibility to support off shifts as needed, with the understanding that occasional weekend support may be required.
Description:
The HR Generalist will support day-to-day human resources operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for employee support, HR systems administration, onboarding, investigations, and compliance activities, while serving as a key point of contact for employee inquiries. This position works closely with HR leadership and labor relations to ensure efficient HR service delivery and positive employee experience across a multi-shift workforce.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact during HR office hours to address employee inquiries (pay, transfers, policies, etc.)
  • Respond to general employee inquiries and Employee Central requests
  • Support engagement initiatives and employee action plans
  • Manage HR communications (e.g., employee notifications and outreach)
  • Maintain and process transactions in Workday and other HR systems
  • Support Workforce Software (timekeeping, pay corrections, and employee inquiries)
  • Assist with record management, including document storage and retention
  • Ensure compliance with I-9 processes and audits
  • Coordinate onboarding activities for hourly and salaried employees
  • Process employment changes (transfers, job code changes, terminations, resignations)
  • Support leave of absence administration (FMLA, medical, personal leave, etc.)
  • Assist with layoffs, shutdown support, and workforce adjustments
  • Support investigations and documentation
  • Assist with unemployment hearings and compliance-related activities
  • Support attendance tracking and disciplinary processes
  • Maintain understanding of employment law and company policies
  • Assist with skilled trades and apprenticeship administration
  • Participate in engagement surveys and initiatives
  • Provide backup support across HR functions as needed
  • Contribute ideas for process improvement and operational efficiency
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum 1.5+ years of HR experience
  • Experience with HR systems (Workday preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to support multiple shifts as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred:
  • Experience in a manufacturing or union/bargaining unit environment
  • Exposure to timekeeping/payroll systems (Workforce Software a plus)
  • Experience supporting employee relations and investigations
