Title: Senior Workday Financials Developer / Technical Lead
Location : 100% remote
Target Start Date : ASAP
Type: contract
Pay Rate: DOE

We are seeking an experienced Workday Financials Developer to lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of Workday Financial Management solutions. This role combines hands-on technical development with solution architecture, technical leadership, and collaboration across business and technology teams. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Workday Financials, integration development, and enterprise-scale implementations, along with the ability to mentor team members and drive technical best practices.

Key Responsibilities Solution Design & Architecture
  • Analyze complex business, system, and data requirements to develop scalable technical solutions.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Workday Financials and related integrations.
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions across Workday Financial Management modules, including:
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Accounts Payable (AP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Asset Management
    • Cash Management
    • Payroll
  • Architect and implement integrations using Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, and Cloud Connect.
  • Design and optimize business processes, workflows, and security configurations.
  • Develop technical strategies that identify and mitigate implementation risks.
Development & Integration
  • Configure and customize Workday Financial Management modules to support business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Workday and enterprise applications using:
    • Workday Studio
    • EIBs
    • SOAP and REST APIs
    • XML/XSLT technologies
  • Build extensions and custom applications using Workday Extend.
  • Create and optimize custom reports using Workday Report Writer and Calculated Fields.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex Workday Financials issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including:
    • Design specifications
    • Data mapping documents
    • Integration guides
    • Support documentation
Technical Leadership
  • Lead technical design sessions and provide architectural guidance.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices.
  • Identify reusable frameworks, components, and integration patterns.
  • Mentor and support junior developers and technical team members.
  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, functional consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Stay current with Workday releases and evaluate new features for adoption.
Delivery & Collaboration
  • Participate in full lifecycle implementations, enhancements, and ongoing support activities.
  • Work within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support deployment planning, release management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications Workday Expertise
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Workday Financials configuration and development.
  • Strong experience implementing and supporting Workday Financial Management modules.

  • Experience developing integrations using SOAP and REST web services.

Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of XML, XSLT, integration patterns, and enterprise application integration.
  • Experience with API-based integrations and middleware concepts.
  • Understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Programming experience in Java and/or Python is a plus.
Leadership & Communication
  • Proven experience leading Workday Financial implementations or major enhancement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring developers and leading technical teams.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
