Job Description:

This position offers onsite, hybrid, or remote flexibility, with occasional travel to the Champaign, IL headquarters for training and other business needs.

Pavlov Media is seeking an analytical and motivated Wireless Engineer to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, reviewing, and optimizing our wireless networks. You will also be responsible for collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is someone who is analytical, methodical, and curious, and enjoys mentoring junior technicians.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and implement wireless networks, including writing scope of work for onsite surveys, hardware selection, RF planning, and capacity analysis.
  • Devise and implement strategies for solving network issues or increasing network performance. This also may include the development and production of network system documentation and instructional and procedural materials.
  • Configure and supervise deployment of wireless infrastructure components such as access points, controllers, and other network devices.
  • Develop wireless network capacity planning models to meet customers’ future needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend new wireless technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance network performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with industry and vendor contacts as needed to diagnose and resolve wireless performance issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior support staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five years experience as a wireless network engineer designing, implementing, and supporting WiFi networks
  • Experience and proficiency with Ekahau or Hamina (preferred) wireless planning tool.
  • Strong understanding of wireless networking standards, e.g. 802.11ax, 802.11r.
  • Strong knowledge of RF principles, signal propagation, and wireless interference mitigation.
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools for wireless network performance evaluation.
  • Relevant certifications such as CWNP or equivalent certifications for other vendors are preferred.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Five years experience as a wireless network engineer designing, implementing, and supporting WiFi networks.
  • Experience and proficiency with Ekahau or Hamina (preferred) wireless planning tools.
  • Strong understanding of wireless networking standards, e.g. 802.11ax, 802.11r.
  • Strong knowledge of RF principles, signal propagation, and wireless interference mitigation.

  • Proficiency in network configuration and management. Experience with both Active Ethernet and GPON/XGSPON LAN distribution preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is: $40.00-$60.00/hr

Actual base pay for this job will depend on the candidate's primary work location and other factors, such as relevant skills and experience. Final pay will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and alignment with our internal equity standards, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organization. The salary banding for this role also allows room for growth, with opportunities for pay increases within the band based on performance and contributions.
