Job description

At Jack Henry, we deliver technology solutions that are digitally transforming and empowering community banks and credit unions to provide enhanced and streamlined user experiences to their customers and members. Our best-in-class products are just the start as we lay the groundwork for the future of digital banking and payments. We hope you'll join us.
Our Infrastructure Core Services teams are focused on delivering compute, network, data, secrets management, and workload orchestration in the cloud. The core teams spearhead the migration of workloads from on-premise data centers to GCP. We partner with our infrastructure platform teams to deliver pipelines, identity, observability, tooling, and security within the platform. We partner with product engineering teams to build performant, scalable, and secure services that are responsible for transactions, payments, deposits, transfers, auth, and platform integrations.
We want our organization to be one that supports, challenges, and motivates you to build strong, dynamic connections with your coworkers. We promote a hard working, highly communicative, flexible, and transparent culture. How well work integrates with your life is an important quality of a healthy individual and organization. In the world of remote work that is always on and always connected, we pay attention to providing margin and space for the things you hold dear.
This position may be worked remotely from any Jack Henry office or anywhere within the United States, with the exception of California. Travel up to 5% for team meetings may be required.
All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity. This position is ineligible for immigration sponsorship and support. Please do not apply if at any time you will need immigration support now or in the future (i.e., H-1B, STEM OPT Training Plans, etc.).
What you'll be responsible for:
• Plan, design, and build the core infrastructure systems used by Jack Henry's development and engineering teams.
• Debug critical production infrastructure issues that may impact multiple sites and services, digging deep to find root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Focus on site state and health with the discipline that allows us to easily and automatically move workloads to avoid failure.
• Use your software development expertise (Go, Python, etc.) to build and enhance platform solutions that improve developer velocity and enable our customers to ship features faster.
• Act as a proactive collaborator and emerging leader, championing software engineering best practices and helping guide other engineers in areas like design and coding standards.
• Work directly with engineering teams to understand their priorities and emerging needs to prioritize solutions that keep pace with product development.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges and drive them to completion
• May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have:
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or Infrastructure as Code.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications.
• Practical experience in declarative service infrastructure environments, specifically using Terraform.
• Experience in an AWS, Azure, and/or GCP cloud environment.
• Programming experience in Go, Python, or Rust.
• Experience designing and implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry)
• Familiarity operating in a Unix/Linux shell.
What would be nice for you to have:
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficiency building and scaling custom Kubernetes controllers and operators.
• Experience managing production environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Service Mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with implementing and scaling relational databases, in-memory data structure stores, and streaming data pipelines (e.g., AlloyDB, Memorystore, Pub/Sub).
• Familiarity with the left side of the Agile manifesto and operating within various methods of implementation.
If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity. Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement on this posting, we still encourage you to apply. We're looking for passionate, driven individuals who align with our mission and can bring unique perspectives to our team.
