Remote Ubiquiti information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Ubiquiti Network Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Ubiquiti Network Engineer, you need expertise in network design, troubleshooting, and a strong understanding of Ubiquiti hardware and wireless technologies, often supported by certifications like Ubiquiti UEWA or equivalent experience. Familiarity with UniFi Controller, EdgeOS, remote management tools, and VPNs is typically essential for managing and configuring distributed network environments. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-motivation skills set top candidates apart in remote roles. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring reliable network performance and efficient support in decentralized and client-focused settings.

What challenges might I face when working remotely as a Ubiquiti network engineer, and how can I overcome them?

Working remotely as a Ubiquiti network engineer often involves troubleshooting and configuring devices without being physically present on-site, which can make diagnosing certain issues more complex. Effective communication with on-site staff is critical, as you'll frequently need their assistance for physical tasks like resets or cable checks. Utilizing robust remote management tools, maintaining thorough documentation, and scheduling regular check-ins with clients or team members can help mitigate these challenges and ensure smooth network operations.

What is a Remote Ubiquiti specialist?

They provide support for network setup, optimization, security, and monitoring, often using remote management platforms. This role typically involves assisting businesses or individuals in maintaining reliable and secure wireless and wired networks without being physically present on site.

  • Proficiency in network design and management (Ubiquiti UniFi, Araknis, OvrC).
  • Hands-on AV system integration, configuration, troubleshooting, and remote support.

  • Ability to create estimates, hookup sheets, and detailed documentation (photos, guides, diagrams).
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and client communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally go on-site for support or setups.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Control4 drivers, custom programming, or enterprise networks.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Familiarity with Splashtop, IObit tools, WordPress/Elementor, or similar.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience in a small team.

What We Offer

  • Hourly pay of $34–$39/hour depending on experience.
  • Flexible schedule and Accrued PTO.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse, high-end AV and automation projects.
  • Supportive team environment with experienced colleagues and strong QA/installation support.

  • Retirement Plan
