Job Details:
Purpose
Provide Windows systems administration support for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
Responsibilities
  • Under general direction, perform compliance monitoring and remediation for Windows, Mac, and server environments in accordance with NIST framework.
  • Under general direction, perform Windows Desktop and Server computer systems installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, training junior staff and end-user support for software's, servers, workstations, laptops, and virtual machines.
  • Manage Windows Server backup services and CIFS/SMB storage solutions installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and escalation.
  • Perform and maintain Windows backup and storage systems audits for compliance with established information assurance policies, retention policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Document and maintain processes, procedures and configurations for Windows, storage and backup solution configuration and change management.
  • Maintain computer hardware/software inventories and documentation.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • HS/GED
  • Two years of experience in IT support and compliance operations, including in Windows system administration, with progressively complex responsibilities.
  • Experience with commonly used concepts, practices, procedures and tools used in maintaining a Windows enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience with security tools such as vulnerability scanners (e.g., Nessus), patch management platforms, endpoint protection, and SIEM solutions such as Splunk.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-171, CMMC, ISO 27001
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows Server technologies.
  • Experience with file server management, network storage (e.g., NAS, SAN), and backup systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server Administration (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022), including installation, configuration, patch management, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience in desktop support, including troubleshooting Windows-based operating systems, application issues, and network connectivity problems.
  • Proven experience in PowerShell scripting or other scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBScript) to automate and streamline system administration tasks.
  • Experience with basic networking concepts.
  • Candidate will need to obtain a DoD 8570.1/8140 IAT Level II Certification, such as CompTIA CySA+ or Security+, within 6 months of hire date.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Three or more years' experience in Windows system administration.
  • Three years of experience with managing compliance in Windows, Linux and Mac environment.
  • Experience in maintaining compliance with industry standards, particularly NIST 800-171 or ISO 27001 controls, ensuring systems adhere to security and privacy requirements. Additional frameworks include: COBIT, FedRAMP, HIPPA.
  • Experience with Linux administration: Red Hat, Ubuntu or other Unix based distros.
  • Experience with automation tools: Salt, Ansible, Puppet or similar tools.
  • Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system, including expertise in hardware and software asset management.
  • Experience with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in maintaining backup and storage infrastructure.
  • Experience with VMWare, Proxmox, Hyper-V/VMM, or other enterprise hypervisor technologies.
  • Current DoD 8570.1/8140 IAT II or greater certification for CySA+, Security+, GICSP, GSEC, or similar approved IA certifications.
  • Experience with system configuration management tools such as SCCM/MECM, GPOs,WDS/MST, Intune or Jamf.
  • Experience with orchestration software such as Kubernetes, Docker or Podman.
  • Experience with source code management tools such as Subversion or GIT.
  • Experience web and database hosting environments such as IIS, MSSQL, or Oracle.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining MacOS systems.
