We're seeking a Vice President, Engineering Strategy & Market Intelligence to join our Engineering team in New York City.

Role Overview

The Vice President, Technology Strategy & Market Intelligence supports BNY's engineering strategy through market analysis, competitor intelligence, strategic planning, and program leadership. This role connects external technology and market trends to internal priorities and drives execution of key strategic initiatives.

Working with Engineering leadership and cross-functional partners, this role develops executive-ready insights, coordinates strategic workstreams, and helps shape priorities, transformation efforts, and investment decisions. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, strong program management, and technical fluency.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Strategy and Strategic Planning

  • Support engineering strategy, priorities, and leadership materials.
  • Turn priorities into workstreams, milestones, and analysis.
  • Prepare materials for planning and strategy reviews.
  • Synthesize internal and external insights into actions.

Market Strategy and Competitive Intelligence

  • Conduct market and competitor research to inform engineering strategy.
  • Develop benchmarks across AI, operating models, tools, and modernization.
  • Track emerging technologies and industry trends for senior stakeholders.
  • Help identify where BNY should strengthen or differentiate capabilities.

Program Management and Strategy Execution

  • Drive strategic initiatives by tracking milestones, risks, and outcomes.
  • Run operating rhythms, status reporting, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate teams on ownership, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Bring rigor and momentum to cross-functional programs.

Technical and Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Engage engineering stakeholders with sound technical judgment.
  • Partner across teams to align priorities with enterprise goals.
  • Support assessments tied to partnerships, innovation, and transformation.
  • Turn complex topics into clear decisions and leadership materials.

Innovation and Emerging Technology Insights

  • Research AI, cloud, data, software, and developer trends.
  • Assess emerging technologies and innovation opportunities.
  • Evaluate new ideas and pilots using structured frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, program management, consulting, market intelligence, technology strategy, business analysis, engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated strength in both strategic analysis and program management, with the ability to move from insight generation to structured execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience conducting market research, competitor analysis, benchmarking, or strategic assessments.
  • Technical background or demonstrated ability to work effectively with engineering and technology stakeholders on complex topics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of polished, executive-ready presentations and materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations, action plans, and leadership updates.
  • Preferred: experience in financial services, engineering organizations, technology transformation, or enterprise strategy environments.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $85,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
