Job description

Overview
Serves as the product/marketing trainer and knowledge dispenser to National Account Agencies and producers and key staff members of larger agencies. Achieves life and annuity sales results in assigned territory, working closely with the Internal Wholesalers (IWS). National Account agencies are defined by the Senior VP of Distribution. Senior RVP Focuses on sales and productivity results of new and existing individual producers. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to independently make a broad range of critical decisions, escalating to executive-level associates only when appropriate. Senior RVP's have industry and Columbus Life subject matter expertise that allows them to work independently in "large" regions, and are responsible to make a broad range of critical decisions, escalating to executive-level associates only when appropriate. Senior RVP's have excellent communication and "podium" presentation skills and can represent CLIC at various conferences and recruiting events.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
  • Recruits new PGA's in assigned territory in conjunction and teamwork with the duties of the Recruiting Coordinator.
  • Provides orientation, product training and direct sales support to new and existing National Account representatives in assigned territory or as directed when needed.
  • Works closely with the Internal Wholesaler to solicit and promote the sale of CLIC products with new and existing PGA's and large agency representatives.
  • Develops close coordination and working relationship with Recruiting Coordinator and Internal Wholesaler in executing field activities.
  • Makes proactive outbound support calls to National Account Agency Heads and Producers. Includes follow-up on sales calls, identifying new sales opportunities and promoting new and existing products.
  • Makes reactive outbound support calls to National Account Agency Heads and Producers. Includes following up on sales calls and answering in-depth and moderately complex questions on products.
  • Develops and utilizes advanced product and operational procedure knowledge. Product knowledge includes all CLIC products, embedded sales-driven features, product introductions and enhancements/updates. Operational procedures knowledge includes new business submissions, underwriting and issue procedures, commissions and state filing approvals.
  • Offers input to CLIC on ways to improve product sales and service. Maintains a high level of awareness of competitors and shares timely information with Internal Wholesaler, Recruiting Coordinator and home office staff on competitors' products and industry trends. Offers input and referrals on potential new National Account Opportunities across the country and participates along with SVP, Distribution on negotiating new National Account Relationships
  • Participates in the interview process for hiring Recruiting Coordinator, Internal and/or External Wholesalers when requested.
  • Manages expenses prudently within assigned expense parameters.
  • Provides regional recruiting, sales and expense reports to management.
  • Keeps up with the trends in our business, networking and being aware of our competitors' strategies and major operational initiatives.
  • Develops and executes strategic initiatives in our operation to give us a competitive edge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In business or related field or commensurate industry experience. - Required
  • Demonstrated significant sales and/or recruiting experience in the life insurance/securities industry. - Required
  • Demonstrated significant wholesaling experience (internal or external) or related sales support experience. - Required
  • Proven advanced knowledge of fixed life insurance and annuity products. - Required
  • Proven advanced knowledge of advanced sales and marketing concepts. - Preferred
  • Cite examples of effective negotiating and problem-solving skills. - Required
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including advanced presentation skills. - Required
  • Cite examples of achieving results while working under pressure with high-volume workloads and deadlines. - Required
  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions. - Required
  • Cite examples demonstrating effectiveness in grasping new concepts and procedures. - Required
  • Must be able to cite examples of self-motivation and experience working under limited supervision - Required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. - Required
  • Working knowledge of product illustration software. - Required
  • State insurance license. Upon Hire - Required
  • CFP, CLU and ChFC or commensurate industry experience. Upon Hire - Required

Work Setting/Position Demands:
  • This position travels and works in various office settings and requires being in a stationary position for long periods of time frequently while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings. Position requires frequent movement of wrist, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
  • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
  • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.

Travel Requirements:
  • 50% travel Extensive travel required (50-70%).
