Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit childrenโs museum and IMAX Theatreย locatedย in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The Vice President of Development is responsible for providing direct oversight to the Development Team and the Development Committee while working in collaboration with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Leadership Team to maximize contributed income and generate sustained operating support through annual giving, major gifts, institutional grants, sponsorships, special events, and strategic fundraising campaigns.ย

Essential Job Responsibilitiesย ย
Inspireย a new level of philanthropy at Marbles with compelling mission-focused development communications, a diverse line-up of investment levels and opportunities,ย andย a robust schedule of personal interactions with community leaders, partners,ย and prospects.ย
Advanceย the mission of Marbles by cultivating partnerships to fund initiative-based programs, exhibits, events,ย movies,ย outreach,ย and capital projects.ย
Cultivate individual major donors through events and face-to-face interactions reinforced by annual appeals.ย
Solicit significant new corporate partnerships through an active schedule ofย prospectiveย outreach, meetings, events,ย and tours.ย
Oversee relationships with major donorsย prioritizingย partner needs and benefitsย in additionย to brand management and employee engagement.ย
Research and explore new government partnerships at the local, state,ย and national level.ย
Engage volunteersย and team leaders to execute annual fundraising events that build onย Marblesโย reputation as a creative and collaborative institutionย whileย connectingย the community with our mission andย raisingย significant unrestricted funding.ย
Maximize Marblesย data analytics for prospecting, engagement,ย and stewardship.ย
Growย long-term financial stability at Marbles byย establishingย a comprehensive development program that includesย a multi-phase capital campaign, endowment funds for operating, and plannedย givingย platform for future needs.ย
Leadย strategic initiatives includingย annual contributed income budgeting, fundraising communications, board development, long-term campaign strategy, and government relationsย in collaboration with theย CEOย and Senior Leadership Team.ย
Lead and contribute to year-round Development-related events, including board gatherings, stewardship events, Giving Tuesday Breakfast, volunteerย eventsย and exhibit openings.ย ย
Expandย contributed income by engaging, inspiring,ย and directingย theย Developmentย Team,ย Team Marbles,ย andย Board of Directorsย
Serve as Marblesโ primary point of contact and project lead for development and campaignย consultancyย through multi-year fundraising and renovation projectsย as needed.ย
Oversee grant process in partnership with other members of the Development team, including research, writing, and reporting.ย
Represent the organization at community networking events to cultivate relationships, increase visibility, and engage prospective donors and supporters.ย
Serve asย primaryย liaison to the Marbles Development Committee, including planning andย facilitatingย bi-monthly meetings, developing agendas and materials, managing follow up and supporting Committee members in fulfilling their roles.ย ย
Responsible for strategic,ย shortย and long-term planning of the organization as aย Developmentย Team representative on the Executive andย Senior Leadership Teams.ย
Perform all other duties assigned byย the manager.ย
Supervisoryย Responsibilitiesย
Recruit, interview, hire,ย and train newย Developmentย team members.ย
Oversee the daily workflow of theย Developmentย Team.ย
Oversee performanceย andย conduct performance evaluations for theย Developmentย Team.ย
Handles discipline and termination of team membersย in accordance withย company policyย and the People Team.ย
Idealย Experience andย Skills
Bachelorโs degree withย 8-ย 10 years of experience in fundraising, including employee and volunteer management.ย
Demonstrated success in generating sustained operating support, major gifts fundraising,ย andย grantsย writing, with knowledge and ability to connect with local,ย stateย and nationalย corporate, foundation,ย and individual donors.ย ย
Proficient in technology, particularly in donor database systems and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel,ย PowerPointย and Outlook.ย
Awareness and interest in data analytics,ย prospecting,ย and research.ย
History of creative and strategic thinking, withย a track recordย of resourcefulness and calculated risk taking.ย
Proven ability to communicate confidently and effectively with teammates across all levels of the organization, guests, communityย leadersย and other key stakeholders.ย
Proven ability to inspireย aย contagious spirit of optimism and gratitude.ย
Successful project manager, with proven ability to create and manage multiple budgets, plans,ย and projects simultaneously.ย
Genuine interest in advancingย Marblesย mission and vision of sparking imagination, discovery and learning through play.ย ย
