ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, HOUSEKEEPING

Yountville, CA

Surrounded by vineyards, Michelin-star restaurants and exquisite views in Yountville, our 22-acre haven sits among one the most coveted viticulture regions in the world. We invite our guests to immerse themselves in a redesigned Wine Country experience in a delightfully vino-cultured manner: two luxury hotels with decidedly different personalities โ€“ the vibrant Hotel Villagio and its sophisticated counterpart, Vintage House, a chic and tranquil sanctuary. JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping supports the Director of Housekeeping in overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction throughout the property.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and directing all housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and back-of-house spaces
  • Ensure all areas of the property meet established cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards
  • Supervise, train, coach, and motivate housekeeping management and line-level staff
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure quality and consistency
  • Address guest concerns and service recovery issues promptly and professionally
  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and payroll accuracy to meet operational and budgetary goals
  • Support inventory control, ordering, and proper use of supplies, linens, and equipment
  • Partner with Engineering, Front Office, and other departments to ensure seamless operations and timely room readiness
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and OSHA regulations
  • Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures and training programs
  • Monitor and support adherence to brand standards, luxury service expectations, and inspection requirements (e.g., Forbes, AAA, brand audits)
  • Participate in performance evaluations, corrective actions, and employee development planning
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, and expense control
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree required or 5-7 years of experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in luxury and/or independent hotels required
  • Previous experience in leading and building a team required
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining operational efficiency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including during long shifts
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and handling office equipment
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally (files, office supplies)
