Maintenance and Engineering Manager
Huntsman is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in McIntosh, Alabama. This position will report to the Site Director.
Job Scope
The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for leading site maintenance, reliability engineering, and capital project activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This role oversees maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, mechanical integrity compliance, asset reliability programs, and capital expenditures while driving continuous improvement and world-class EH&S performance.
In summary, as the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, you will:
  • Lead maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams to achieve world-class Environmental, Health & Safety performance.
  • Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution processes to ensure efficient and effective plant operations.
  • Develop and sustain asset reliability programs utilizing maintenance and reliability best practices.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
  • Manage contractor performance, maintenance procurement activities, and MRO inventory optimization.
  • Coordinate and facilitate plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and major maintenance projects.
  • Monitor and report maintenance KPIs including backlog, schedule compliance, mechanical downtime, and budget performance.
  • Manage maintenance and capital expenditure budgets while supporting site infrastructure and asset lifecycle needs.
  • Lead the Mechanical Integrity (MI) program and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S, Visual Management, and reliability-focused methodologies.
  • Develop and mentor maintenance professionals while building a high-performing team.
  • Ensure maintenance procedures, reliability programs, and equipment data are maintained and continuously improved.

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, or asset management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience leading maintenance teams and managing maintenance work management processes.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution best practices.
  • Understanding of Maintenance Engineering and Mechanical Integrity (PSM) concepts.
  • Experience utilizing performance metrics and visual management tools to drive results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and internet-based business tools.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Maintenance Module or similar CMMS/ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
  • Certified Reliability Leader (CRL).
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience managing capital projects and maintenance budgets.
  • Experience supporting Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety Management programs in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Working Environment
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and industrial plant environment with regular interaction in operational areas.
  • Participation in the maintenance duty roster and availability for call-ins when required to support site operations.
  • Frequent collaboration with operations, engineering, contractors, and leadership teams to ensure safe and reliable plant performance.
  • May require field inspections, shutdown support, and oversight of maintenance activities in operating production units.
