Brief statement of duties and responsibilities: The Department of Pharmacy & Therapeutics of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated individual for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor rank. The ideal Candidate will have research experience in one or more of the following areas: clinical and translational sciences, precision medicine, genotype/phenotype discovery, medication outcome phenotyping, therapeutic biomedical engineering, health care implementation science, data science (pharmacoanalytics), toxicology, or pharmacovigilance. The incumbent is expected to complement or actively contribute to the Pittsburgh Pharmacogenomics (PittPGx) program and Pharmacogenomics Center of Excellence, as well as develop meaningful collaborations with other researchers within the School of Pharmacy, Schools of Health Sciences, and external organizations.
As a faculty member, the Candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. This is an on campus, full-time 12-month position. The Department is housed in the School of Pharmacy, one of the six Schools of Health Sciences. The school offers a professional Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, and post-professional fellowship and graduate degree programs (M.S. and Ph.D.). The Pharm.D. and Ph.D. degree programs are delivered as non-virtual programs. Some Masters programs are virtual or hybrid.
Responsibilities for faculty position include:
• The successful applicant is expected to establish an independent, competitively funded research program.
• Develop a successful track record of scholarship, which includes peer-reviewed publications and competitive grantsmanship related to pharmacogenomics, precision medicine, or other focus area as outlined above.
• Provide mentorship and teaching of students, fellows, and other trainees.
• Service on committees relevant to the teaching, research, and service missions of the Department, School, and University.
The University is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their teaching, leadership, research, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The applicant may also wish to take full advantage of the Department's strong and long-standing partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), which is a world-class academic medical center in Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh provides extensive resources and opportunities for independent and multi-disciplinary collaborative funded research. In addition to effective teaching and productive scholarship, the applicant will provide service to the University, profession, and community. This faculty position may be union eligible.
Minimum objective qualifications; other desirable qualifications:
Requirements for the position
• A doctoral degree from an accredited university in pharmacy, medicine, public health, healthcare outcomes, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, engineering, or a related field.
• Expertise in genomic-based drug research, precision medicine, or other focus area as outlined above.
• An established track record of peer-reviewed publications and competitive grantsmanship
Preferred qualifications for the position
• Experience in teaching in professional and/or graduate programs
• Priority will be given to candidates with a proven track record of competitive extra mura lfunding.
• Proficiency with implementation of artificial intelligence in research will also be viewed as valuable expertise.
Rank and/or title; salary range or minimum: Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The academic rank and salary are competitive and will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. 4. Tenure/tenure-stream/non-tenure stream; full/part-time: This is a tenure stream, full-time position.
