Job Description

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing (Grant) to beginFall 2026.

TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. This is atemporary, full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position funded through a federal grant. Primary duties will includecreating the virtual simulation scenarios; implementing the immersive virtual simulation as part of clinical and for remediation; conduct training for faculty on the use of immersive virtual simulation; and evaluate the simulations as it relates to student learning outcomes. Duties also includeproviding service, as needed, to the department, college, and university. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold amaster's degree or graduate hours demonstrating significant progress toward the completion of a master's in nursing; have 3 more years of clinical nursing experience; and a current unrestricted/unencumbered license to practice registered nursing within the State of Texas. Those who are advanced practice nurses should meet and have all certification required for their specialty. We strongly encourage candidates with the potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding; b) a strong desire to work with first-generation students, and c) have the ability to teach in areas that complement or strengthen both our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.

We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
