Job Description:
This role is ideal for someone eager to apply their event planning and logistics expertise in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Events Manager will play a key role in executing an ambitious calendar of events that elevate Boston Globe Media's brands. This position will help drive revenue growth while creating meaningful experiences that strengthen connections with our community.
This role will report to the Director of Events and work closely with the Events Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of events, ensuring exceptional attendee and sponsor experiences while meeting brand, operational, and revenue goals
  • Manage on-site event staffing, serving as the primary point of contact to ensure seamless execution
  • Develop and manage detailed run-of-show documents and supporting materials for moderators, panelists, vendors, guests, and internal teams
  • Ensure the Boston Globe Media Events team is fully equipped with all materials and resources needed to deliver events as promised
  • Maintain internal event metrics and records, ensuring accurate and organized tracking across all programs
  • Manage select live and virtual events from end to end, including oversight of staff, vendors, and overall production
  • Oversee event registration pages, guest lists, and the development of event-related marketing assets as needed
  • Track and analyze attendee and event data, providing actionable recommendations to improve future events
  • Contribute ideas in planning and marketing meetings to enhance both existing and upcoming programs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, venues, and service providers; source and secure appropriate partners for each event
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in both independent and team settings
  • Support the development of sales materials and pitch decks, including presentation design and audience research
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients and external partners as needed

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong organization and communication skills, including project management
  • Ability to work independently and also on a team
  • Ability to work in the BGM Boston Office, and occasional nights and weekends as needed
  • Experience managing staff
  • Bonus points for experience with hybrid events
  • A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment

The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
The annual salary for this role is $60,000 - $75,000.
This range reflects the band for this role. We are committed to fair and market-informed compensation. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates could be hired within the midpoint of the range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by their particular combination of skills, experience, and qualifications.
