NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee member for the following committee:
DIVISION OF MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION
5 Teacher Positions
6 THREE-HOUR SESSIONS DURING THE MONTHS OF JULY AND AUGUST
Time: 10:00-1:00 PM
Days: JULY 8, JULY 9, JULY 21, JULY 22, JULY 29, JULY 30

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid teaching certificate in English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education, Elementary Education, Secondary English, or Reading,and be currently employed by Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured or probationary teacher. Teachers will create curriculum resources to support the ENL stand-alone curriculum, utilizing approved district curriculum, with the supervisor's approval.
Preference given to candidates who:
  • Have prior experience serving on the ENL/Multilingual curriculum committee.
  • Have experience teaching ENL stand-alone or integrated ENL.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers will work under the supervision of a Multilingual administrator:
  • Develop and refine curriculum resources for ENL stand-alone instruction by grade level
  • Align lessons, activities, and assessments to approved district curriculum, language development expectations, and grade-level standards.
  • Create or revise language objectives, vocabulary supports, sentence frames, scaffolded tasks, and student-facing materials.
  • Develop and refine stand-alone assessment materials that measure students' ability to use language for academic purposes.
  • Ensure consistency across curriculum cycles, including formatting, standards alignment, instructional routines, and assessment expectations.
  • Collaborate with committee members to review, provide feedback, and revise materials.
  • Complete assigned curriculum work within the established committee timeline.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled virtual sessions.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointments will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.
