VIRTUAL EDUCATION TEACHER
MICHIGAN CYBER ACADEMY
Hazel Park is seeking applicants for the position of Virtual Special Education Teacher serving students in grades K-12.
SPECIFICS
  • 10-month, Full-time, Virtual Position
  • Hazel Park Vendor Schools Salary Schedule
  • Reports to Executive Director of Student Services

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid Michigan teaching certificate with any Special Ed Endorsement
  2. Highly Qualified in accordance with No Child Left Behind Guidelines
  3. Experience in providing instructional services to students with special needs virtually
  4. The ability to write, implement, and monitor IEP's
  5. Knowledge and/or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth, inform instruction, and develop interventions
  6. Experience in differentiated instruction, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Systems, and individualized programming options for students
  7. Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
  8. Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of management and staff
  9. Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide differentiated instruction to students on caseload
  2. Evaluate and monitor student growth, and develop targeted interventions
  3. Maintain contact with parents of caseload students
  4. Complete caseload monthly Medicaid Billing
  5. Plan and participate in MET and IEPT meetings when appropriate
  6. Consult, communicate, and collaborate with other professionals regarding specific students, educational plans and programs
  7. Adapt materials and activities according to students needs
  8. Maintain records in accordance with professional standards, federal and state guidelines, and school district policy.
  9. Prioritize and schedule tasks
  10. Functional Curriculum for Moderate Cognitive Impaired students
  11. Work Base Learning and Community Base Instruction
  12. PBIS tiers of support
  13. Support systems for young adults with Autism
  14. Manage inventory of equipment, assessments, and supplies
  15. CPI Training preferred
  16. Direct and supervise the classroom paraprofessional
  17. Other duties as assigned by administrator
