Job Summary

The Vice President of Lending is a lending leader responsible for driving lending performance, operational excellence, and strategic execution across all Lake Trust’s Consumer Lending products, especially with Consumer Direct, Real Estate Home Equity, and Credit Card. This role will focus heavily on improving current consumer loan product offering, evaluating new fintech and credit opportunities, loan processing efficiency, process modernization, data driven decision making, and delivering exceptional member experiences that align with Lake Trust’s vision of helping our members and communities thrive.

The VP of Lending will lead teams across consumer loan processing, funding, and loan operations ensuring compliance, portfolio quality, cross department collaboration, and continuous improvement in support of the Credit Union’s strategic goals and adherence to Consumer Loan Policy and Lending guidelines. This role works with the Lending Leadership to set and execute strategic directions to meet our lending goals and the Lake Trust Strategic Plan.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the strategy, operations, and performance of Consumer Direct and Home Equity Real Estate lending channels, with a specific focus on processing efficiency, cycle time reduction, and member satisfaction.
  • Provide strategic direction for existing consumer products and new loan opportunities in collaboration with Product Development, Onstage or the retail relationship center network, Call Center, and Senior Leadership.
  • Develop a lending roadmap aligned with Lake Trust’s mission and values, fostering a member centric and purpose driven lending experience.
  • Manage strategic risk and monitor lending KPIs, profitability, portfolio health, risk trends, and operational workflow effectiveness.
  • Redesign and streamline end to end consumer loan processing workflows (application, documentation, closing, funding) to improve speed, consistency, and capacity.
  • Implement technology and automation strategies to enhance efficiency, in alignment with industry best practices seen in peer organizations.
  • Partner with IT, Digital, and other units to optimize loan origination systems and elevate operational performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing team of lending professionals—promoting curiosity, learning, inclusivity, and strong collaboration.
  • All other responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • 7+ years of progressive lending leadership experience in a credit union or financial institution, especially: Home Equity Real Estate lending, Consumer Direct lending
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Experience in managing Loan processing and operations
  • Demonstrated expertise improving workflow efficiency, implementing process redesign, and leveraging data for decision making.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, lending compliance, and portfolio risk management.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, collaborate, coach and grow high performing teams.
  • Understanding of Indirect Lending, Underwriting, and Credit Solutions / Collections is beneficial and preferred.
