About the Job

Veterinary Assistants at WRAH are responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice. In addition to veterinary technician skills such as patient restraint, administering medications, IV catheter placement, and phlebotomy, assistants in the Ophthalmology department will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting with Ophthalmologic exams
  • Helping DVMs and Techs with specialized diagnostic procedures
  • Obtaining Intraocular pressures
  • Measuring blood pressure using Doppler
  • Documenting history and updates in medical records
  • Provide quality, compassionate care for your patients
  • Assist DVMs and Techs with anesthetic and sedated procedures
  • Maintain accurate treatment sheets
  • Take radiographs and obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing
  • Provide client education on a wide range of at home care

What You Will Bring
  • Experience working as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Basic understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring
  • Process laboratory specimens
  • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Understanding of normal vs abnormal physiologic ranges
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community
  • Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected

Schedule

Monday through Friday, four 10-hour shifts


Salary

$19.00 - $23.00 per hour for veterinary technicians based on experience
