Job Summary
The Human Resources Department at CU Boulder invites applications for a Senior Learning & Development Specialist! This position reports to the Director of Learning and Development. This position designs and delivers training programs to University employees. Specific functions include delivery, coordination and evaluation of new and existing training programs. This position researches, designs, and implements trainings.

Human Resources (HR) contributes leadership, guidance, tools and services to support employees throughout their careers at CU Boulder and to cultivate a culture which upholds the campus' strongly held values. HR partners with campus in the achievement of the campus vision and strategic imperatives.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Training and Development:
  • Deliver, facilitate, coordinate and evaluate employee development courses, seminars, and programs. Programs range from topical seminars (emotional intelligence, communication) to style assessments (such as CliftonStrengths, Everything DiSC) to multi-day programs (such as Managers Academy and Crucial Conversations).
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluation for all trainings.
  • Respond to departmental training requests.

Needs Analysis, Assessments, and Instructional Design:
  • With the Director of Learning & Development, develop and administer surveys, assessments, interviews and focus groups to conduct needs assessments.
  • Use instructional design processes to develop programs based on the needs' assessment.
  • Work with the Director to develop new programmatic initiatives to enhance department offerings to meet campus needs.
  • Participate in committees internally and externally that fit with the mission of human resources.
  • Assist the Director with projects as needed.

This position offers a hybrid work modality with in office hours based on training schedule and needs.

  • The annual hiring range for this full-time position is $71,000-$75,000.

What We Require
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant professional work experience with a main focus on training.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

What You Will Need
  • Instructional Design.
  • Facilitation Skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and demonstrated experience in designing training programs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, training program development, and ability to train on general employee development topics.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions, adjust to diverse audiences, and deal with a range of participant behaviors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage a diverse set of employee populations at all levels of the organization.

What We Would Like You to Have
  • A master's degree in curriculum and instruction, organization and employee development, human resource management, education, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of professional training experience.
  • Work experience in Higher Education.
  • Experience planning, managing, and delivering multi-day development programs or other related initiatives from start to finish.
  • Experience developing new training seminars or programs on topics relevant to a broad employee population, including management skills, communication, customer service, etc.
  • Certification in one or more of the following or assessments: DiSC, Emotional Intelligence, Real Colors, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, CliftonStrengths, Crucial Conversations, etc.
  • Digital literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or other presentation software) and experience with presentation software.
  • Experience with Instructional Design Models (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) including online authoring tools (Articulate Rise, Captivate) or similar systems.
  • Proficiency in an LMS (Canvas, Percipio, or similar).
