What you will do:

The Director of Learning & Talent Development - Operational Excellence leads the enterprise-wide execution of talent development initiatives across learning solution development, training delivery, and deployment operations.  This role ensures learning solutions are scalable, practical, aligned to business priorities and within budget, enabling leaders and frontline teams to build the capabilities needed to drive organizational performance. Serving as a senior learning leader, the Director provides strategic guidance on learning strategy, solution design and instructional excellence for high-impact enterprise initiatives while establishing the standards, governance, and operational discipline that drive consistency across the learning portfolio.

This role is responsible for translating enterprise learning priorities into a well-managed portfolio of initiatives through disciplined planning, prioritization, governance, resource and capacity alignment, and operational oversight. The Director oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of learning solutions-from intake and development through delivery, deployment, and continuous improvement-ensuring content is designed to enterprise standards, facilitators are prepared, and programs are implemented seamlessly at scale. Working in close partnership with Learning & Talent Development and business leaders, the Director leverages data, stakeholder feedback, and operational insights to continuously improve learning effectiveness, operational efficiency, learner adoption and measurable business outcomes.

What you'll do:

  • Own the enterprise-wide operating model for Learning & Talent Development, translating business priorities into a well-managed portfolio of learning initiatives through effective intake, prioritization, capacity planning, resource allocation and coordinated execution.
  • Establish and govern enterprise standards, processes, workflows, and quality expectations for learning solutions, ensuring instructional excellence, consistency and alignment with business objectives across the learning portfolio.
  • Balance strategic priorities with operational capacity, making informed decisions on project sequencing, resource allocation, and tradeoffs to maximize business value.
  • Serve as the senior learning consultant for high-impact enterprise initiatives, providing guidance on learning strategy, instructional approach, solution design, and implementation to maximize business impact.
  • Lead enterprise learning development and delivery operations, ensuring learning solutions are developed efficiently, facilitators are prepared and certified, and learning experiences are delivered consistently across instructor-led, virtual, hybrid, and self-paced formats.
  • Direct enterprise learning deployments by coordinating communications, logistics, scheduling, stakeholder alignment, and change readiness to ensure successful implementation at scale.
  • Drive operational excellence across the learning lifecycle-from intake and design through deployment, measurement and continuous improvement - ensuring accountability, execution quality and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish enterprise measurement and reporting frameworks that leverage learning technologies, operational metrics, learner feedback and business performance data to evaluate effectiveness, optimize resources, and provide executive visibility into learning outcomes.  
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation and optimization of learning technologies, including LMS platforms, virtual delivery tools, AI-enabled solutions, and analytics capabilities to improve scalability, efficiency and learner experience.
  • Champion continuous improvement across learning operations by optimizing processes, leveraging data driven insights and adopting innovative practices that enhance organizational capability and business performance.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing L&TD team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while reinforcing high standards for learning quality and operational excellence.
What you will bring:
  • 10-12+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Talent Development, including at least 7 years in senior leadership roles leading learning organizations, instructional design, training delivery, or learning operations within complex, high-growth environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide learning portfolios, translating business strategy into scalable learning solutions, and managing priorities, resources, budgets, and vendor partnerships across multiple initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, curriculum development, and blended learning strategies, with the ability to review, coach, and elevate the quality of enterprise learning solutions across multiple delivery modalities.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing learning teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders, navigating organizational complexity, and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to connect enterprise objectives to measurable learning outcomes and operational excellence.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, sales, logistics, retail, technology, or similarly complex operational environments, with an understanding of both frontline and corporate workforce dynamics preferred.
  • Proficiency with enterprise learning technologies, including LMS platforms (e.g., Cornerstone or Oracle), Salesforce or comparable CRM systems, learning analytics, and modern learning technologies used to measure and improve performance.
