Job Description:
School Counselor

Summary:

To provide academic and personalย support for students in grades 6-12.ย  ย The person in this role will work directly with students as well as consult with teachers, staff members and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students.ย  Support of students in other programs including the Ottawa County Careerline Tech Center and our College Advisory Period etc. is also a focus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
* Counsel groups or individual students through the development of educational and career plans.
* Ensure students are on track to meet graduation requirements and transcript evaluation.
* Counsel small groups and individual students with concerns; refer severe issuesย to appropriate community resources.
* Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students.
* Evaluate and revise the school counseling program.
* Conduct counseling activities in the classroom in conjunction with administration and teachers.
* Consult with teachers to facilitate the infusion of counseling learning activities into the regular education curricula.
* Participate the Black River HELP team for students needing academic support
* Responds to crisis situations when appropriate.
* Assists with proctoring and coordinating Standardized testing, including M-Step, PSAT, SAT, ACT WorkKeys, etc.
* Careeline Tech Center Coordination, enrollment, and oversight.
* Advise students on scheduling, conflicts and necessary course changes.
Education and/or Experience:
Master of Arts degree in counseling, counselor endorsement preferred.
