Position Summary

Administers accommodations and supports student with disabilities in their courses according to their individual accommodations. Provides instructional support to students and faculty related to accessibility.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides access to content in the form of notes from course lectures, boards, overheads, movies, videos, question and answer sessions, discussions, and field trips as designated by student, in student preference for writing style and format.
  • Edits and formats class notes to provide best access to content for student's processing needs, and delivers the notes following DRC's policy.
  • Provides visual support by reading books, handouts, board work, overheads and exams to students requiring audio content access.
  • Types or writes student dictation; and performs text typing in situations to overcome student barriers with manipulation.
  • Operates periphery computer equipment per student accommodation to address specific barriers
  • Supports students with disabilities in accessing various aspects of the college per direction of the DRC.
  • Supports testing for students, both on campus and virtually.
  • Supports other accessibility related projects college wide
  • Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
