Description
This position will provide dental care services to patients of the Center for Family Medicine's FQHC's programs. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the Chief Dental Officer to coordinate training experiences for dental students and other learners.
Examples of Duties
TEACHING (10%)
A. Serve as a mentor for dental students and residents who rotate through the Springfield site. B. Supervise dental students in the provision of care to patients. C. Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the FCM residency program on the integration of oral health and primary care.
SERVICE (80%)
A. Provide direct dental services to patients of the SIU CFM dental clinic in Springfield. B. On an emergent or temporary basis, provide dental care to patients at other SIU FQHC dental sites. C. Supervise dental hygienist and dental assistants in the provision of dental care to patients. D. Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities. E. Provide emergency services to patients as needed.
ADMINISTRATION (5%)
A. Maintain effective relationships with community providers in sites where dental care is provided to enhance services and outcomes for patients, ensuring coordination of care with community resources. B. Ensure compliance with all regulatory entities' standards; ensure quality patient care and appropriate provider productivity. C. Serve as member of the Management Team and the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee. D. Attend faculty meetings and core conferences as requested.
RESEARCH/ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES (5%)
A. Attend professional meetings in field to keep abreast of new developments and treatments.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority and low income populations. b. Doctorate of Dental Surgery or Doctorate of Dental Medicine at time of hire. c. Licensed/License Eligible to Practice Dentistry in the State of Illinois
