Job description

Summary: Our healthcare-related client in Columbia is looking to bring on a temporary admin support specialist to assist with insurance correspondence and claims-related document processing.


This is a short-term temp position (Approx. 60-90 days) looking to start next week on-site in Columbia. The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of insurance and work well independently in a fast-paced office environment.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare, print, scan, fax, and mail insurance-related documents and patient correspondence.
  • Verify recipient information and document accuracy before transmission.
  • Monitor fax queues and resend failed transmissions as needed.
  • Maintain records of outgoing mail and fax confirmations.
  • Handle confidential healthcare information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Process returned mail and resolve delivery issues.
  • Support the insurance team with backlog reduction and claims-related documentation.
  • Manage office supply inventory and assist with administrative tasks as needed.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration, insurance support, medical records, or a similar administrative role preferred.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and handling sensitive patient information.
  • Comfortable using Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office 365, scanners, printers, and fax machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to succeed in repetitive, process-driven work.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • General insurance knowledge preferred.


Schedule

  • Onsite in Columbia, SC
  • Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm


Compensation

  • $18 per hour
  • Short-term contract assignment (approximately 60-90 days)
  • Potential for extension based on business needs
  • Must pass a background check before employment begins.
