The Senior Business Analyst collaborates with stakeholders, Product Owners, UX designers, developers, architects, quality assurance analysts, and Scrum teams to ensure solutions meet business objectives while providing an intuitive user experience. Unlike the Product Owner, who owns product priorities and backlog decisions, the Business Analyst focuses on understanding business operations, documenting requirements, validating solutions, and ensuring delivery teams have the information necessary to build successful products.

  • Perform process, technology, and operational gap analyses.
  • Facilitate requirements and process-discovery sessions.
  • Document business rules, workflows, requirements, risks, and dependencies.
  • Recommend process improvements.
Product Owner Support
  • Assist with epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare backlog items for refinement and development.
  • Clarify functional requirements for delivery teams.
  • Maintain traceability between business needs and delivered solutions.
UX/UI Support

  • Analyze business data to support requirements and decisions.
  • Document data sources, definitions, mappings, and business rules.
  • Identify data quality issues.
  • Support data validation and conversion activities.
Testing and Validation
  • Coordinate UAT activities with the Product Owner.
  • Develop test scenarios and business test cases.
  • Support defect review and retesting.
  • Confirm delivered functionality meets requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Document results and support business approval.

  • Work with Product Owners, stakeholders, UX designers, developers, architects, and QA teams.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, Sprint Planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Communicate findings, decisions, risks, and requirement changes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Five years of IT business analysis experience.
  • Experience supporting Scrum or Kanban teams.
  • Experience documenting current-state and future-state processes.
  • Experience with gap analysis, requirements elicitation, user stories, acceptance criteria, data analysis, and UAT.

  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Visio, Miro, or similar tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes and translate them into technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

  • Experience creating wireframes or low-fidelity UX/UI designs.
  • Experience with Figma or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience supporting enterprise modernization, government, public safety, or regulated environments.
Key Skills
  • Complete and accurate process and requirements documentation.
  • Backlog items prepared with minimal rework.
  • Timely completion of gap and data analyses.
