Description:
The Admissions Office is seeking to hire a Temporary Office Assistant. The Temporary Admissions Office Assistant reports to the Director of Music Admissions & Associate Director of Music Admissions. This position provides friendly and professional administrative and operational support in a high-volume, fast-paced office environment. Juilliard Admissions receives and processes about 5,000 applications and manages on-site auditions for almost 1,400 music applicants and about 2,700 dance and drama applicants. Application review and interview scheduling are ongoing. Therefore, timely submission of materials is strongly encouraged.
This is a full-time, temporary, hourly position, paid hourly at $22.66/hour, and eligible for overtime. The shift schedule is as follows:
  • August 17, 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter, ideally by September 1) through April 9, 2027. The employment period may be extended beyond April 9, 2027, should the Office of Admissions need further support. This longer-term temp must be available for both acting and music & dance auditions (see dates below).

The Office of Admissions is a public facing team and welcomes visitors from across the globe to our campus. Therefore, a successful candidate is expected to work in the office for the full duration of employment. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
This position is required to be available for all audition days, including weekends, early mornings, and late nights. Schedule adjustments will be made to stay within a 40-hour workweek. However, if adjustments are not possible due to the workload, overtime hours will be paid per institutional policy. The successful candidate must commit to the full duration of the work period according to the schedule they are hired for, and must be available to work all audition dates, consistent with their position, as follows:
  • December 12-14, 2026 (music)
  • Weekends in January (acting)
  • February 26-March 5, 2027 (music & dance)

Role Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director & Associate Director of Music Admissions, the Temporary Admissions Assistant:
  • Assists in preparing for college division auditions, including organizing audition materials, proof-reading audition schedules, etc.
  • Assists the Admissions team in working with faculty leading up to and on the audition days, updating and maintaining the applicant database, reviewing applicant files for completion of required material and verification of all data for admission statuses
  • Assists in directing seasonal student workers in their duties.
  • Supports the Admissions Coordinator, Operations, including front desk coverage, opening, sorting, and distributing mail, processing a high volume of application materials, data entry, responding to general email inquiries, assisting and supporting work-study students, and phone and reception coverage as needed
  • Assists in reading application materials
  • Supports other Admissions areas, as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in an office environment
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Collaborative disposition and demonstrated ability to work well with others in a professional environment
  • Ability to perform tasks under pressure
  • Adept in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive attitude, professional appearance, and behavior consistent with the values of Juilliard
  • Cultural competency; respect and ease dealing with people from varied backgrounds, belief systems, and orientations

Preferred Background:
  • Degree in a performing arts field or arts administration
