Job description

Overview
This is an 8 month appointment where readers work 12 hours per week from Mid-August - Mid-March.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Auburn University seeks creative, committed, and clear-minded professional to fill an adjunct Admissions Application Reader position to assist in the admissions process. This position will read student applications and make admissions recommendations for first year and transfer candidates.
This job may be eligible for remote work per university guidelines and policies.
Due to regulatory compliance, we are unable to consider applicants from international locations or certain states. Candidates will be informed of the applicable locations during the recruitment process.

Responsibilities
Analyze qualifications of prospective students utilizing admissions guidelines
  • Submit evaluations and recommendations regarding admissibility of applications to freshman- and transfer-admitting colleges and programs
  • Write decision recommendations with clear rationales
  • Orally present application review to team of individuals including senior leadership
  • Complete application evaluations accurately and in a timely manner following a pre-determined applicant flow.
    May be needed for periodic daytime meetings in the Central Standard Time Zone. This is an hourly position, and the candidate must keep accurate time records.
    Conflicts of Interest and Restrictions:
    Given the sensitive nature of the admission selection process and to avoid any potential conflicts of interest:
  • Admissions Application Readers may not be the parent, guardian, or immediate family member of a rising high school student who is planning to apply to college (to Auburn University or elsewhere). Exceptions can be made for Readers who have previously been employed within our office for at least one year.
  • A Reader cannot be employed by another university, any high school, or any organization that provides college counseling support of any type, nor can they be employed independently in work that provides personal college counseling support of any type.
  • Understand and maintain strict confidentiality of admissions process and application data.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience working for Auburn University or familiarity with Auburn's culture, values, and community.
  • To ensure efficient and high-quality application review, the ability to work accurately at a fast pace and to provide comprehensive and relevant summary comments is essential.
  • As remote employees, candidates must have their own computer and a stable internet connection.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills. Demonstrated ability to independently and quickly navigate internet-based tools with little to no guidance.
  • Experience with SLATE is preferred.
