Posting Number 01145 Position Title Student Assistant - Admissions Department Enrollment Management: Admissions Position Summary
This Student - Admissions Assistant position will assist the members of the Admissions Staff and provide support to the Guest Experience Coordinator at the front desk of the Admissions Office. Admissions Assistants will support admissions counselors through various projects as well as reviewing and charting transcripts for the application file review process, interact with visitors, prospective students and parents, answer and make phone calls in a professional manner, assist with scheduling, checking in, and documenting of appointments for campus visits and interviews, represent the University at events, and enter prospective student data into Ellucian Colleague and Slate.. A commitment for a full academic year is preferred.
Education/Experience
Current Stevenson University student in good standing at the University, both academically and judicially, and have at least a 2.5 GPA. Preferably a sophomore, junior or senior. Experience in an office setting with customer service or data entry preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be a reliable, team player with a positive attitude is of the highest importance.
  • Professionalism and enthusiasm for Stevenson University.
  • Accuracy with attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of multi-line phone systems.
  • Accurate and timely data entry skills for application review and updates to student information in the database.
  • Clear, friendly speaking voice and effective speaking and writing skills for and conversations with families.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, knowledge of Colleague or Slate preferred.
  • Flexible, able to prioritize duties, and possess enthusiasm for learning new skills while working with changing technology. Must possess a strong SU ethic and be a positive SU spokesperson at all times.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, able to multi-task and work independently.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Light work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move object. Keyboarding, standing and/or sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal. Clear speaking voice.
Essential Functions
  • Assist admissions counselors in reviewing recently submitted applications for admission, namely evaluating transcripts and entering grades into Ellucian Colleague.
  • Greet visitors, prospective students and families in Admissions lobby.
  • Check and respond to email messages in general Admissions and Register inboxes.
  • Assist with answering incoming calls, checking Admissions voicemail and returning calls.
  • Perform general office tasks related to data entry, filing and organizing.
  • Assist with making confirmation calls and text messages to scheduled visitors.
  • Assist with the scheduling, checking in and documenting appointments for campus visits and interviews.
  • Assist where needed while setting up for and working large-scale Admissions events.
  • Assist applicants with application status and documents.
