Job Title: Technology Designer

Job Description

This role offers an experienced telecommunications designer the opportunity to step into a mid-level position with a clear path to grow into a Project Manager within approximately one year. You will support and lead telecom design projects for a multi-disciplinary design-build firm, working on a diverse portfolio of project types, including data centers and large-scale facilities. The organization places a strong emphasis on employee growth, long-term career development, and building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design of telecommunications systems for a variety of projects, including data centers and other complex facilities.
  • Produce detailed telecom design documents using Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project standards.
  • Apply electrical design and electrical engineering principles to telecom systems, coordinating closely with electrical and other design disciplines.
  • Participate in and support construction activities by providing design clarifications, addressing field questions, and collaborating with construction teams.
  • Assist with project controls, including tracking design progress, supporting schedules, and contributing to documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of telecom systems into overall building and infrastructure designs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements, present design solutions, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of telecom design projects from concept through completion, with increasing responsibility toward full project management.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes by reviewing drawings, specifications, and calculations for accuracy and consistency.
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior team members, sharing knowledge of telecom design, Revit workflows, and best practices as your role grows into project management.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications design.
  • Proficiency with Revit for producing telecom design projects.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for developing and coordinating design documentation.
  • Electrical background, including experience in electrical design, electrical engineering, or electrical engineering design as it relates to telecom systems.
  • Experience working on data center projects or similarly complex, technology-intensive facilities.
  • Understanding of construction processes and the ability to support construction activities from a design perspective.
  • Experience with project controls such as tracking progress, documentation, and coordination tasks.
  • Strong ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary design-build environment.
  • Effective communication skills for working with clients, colleagues, and project stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification.
  • BICSI certification or training in structured cabling and telecommunications standards.
  • Experience with large-scale fulfillment center or similar high-volume facility projects.
  • Interest in growing from a mid-level designer role into a full Project Manager role within approximately one year.
  • Desire to build a long-term career in a design-build environment with significant growth and learning opportunities.

Pay and Benefits
