Job description

Telecom GIS & Data Analyst โ€“ Network Capacity Planning

Location: 100% Remote

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract

Client Industry: Telecommunications

Openings: 1 Position

Mandatory Requirements โ€“ Do Not Apply Unless You Meet All Three
  • Direct GIS experience within the telecommunications industry- THIS IS A MUST
  • Ability to write code in both Python and SQL
  • Demonstrated initiative in translating geospatial analysis into business cases, investment decisions, or strategic recommendations โ€” proactively surfacing insights that drive action, not just responding to requests
About the Role

TEKsystems is partnering with a leading telecommunications client to build a strategic team focused on network capacity planning and market expansion. This is not a pure development role โ€” we're looking for someone who thinks like a business analyst and builds like an engineer. You'll use geospatial data and large-scale datasets to identify high-opportunity areas for infrastructure growth, but more importantly, you'll know how to turn that analysis into a compelling story that drives investment decisions at the leadership level.

This is a high-visibility position within the engineering organization, working directly alongside planning, strategy, and executive teams. If you've spent your career bridging the gap between technical GIS work and real business outcomes โ€” this was built for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze geospatial and consumer datasets to identify market opportunities and infrastructure gaps
  • Build and present business cases that translate spatial analysis into actionable investment recommendations
  • Develop and maintain spatial models to support strategic planning and network expansion analysis
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate large datasets from internal and cloud-based sources
  • Build automated Python scripts and workflows for data cleaning, transformation, and analysis
  • Create dashboards, maps, and reports that communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Validate and cross-reference internal datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Proactively identify data gaps and drive resolution across internal teams and systems
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, and strategy teams to align insights with business goals
Required Skills
  • Telecom industry GIS experience โ€” mandatory
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and analysis
  • Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing large relational datasets
  • Hands-on experience with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo, or similar)
  • Ability to build a business narrative around geospatial findings and present to leadership
  • Experience working with large-scale geospatial and consumer datasets
  • Strong initiative โ€” you chase down answers, you don't wait to be pointed at them
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting network planning, capacity strategy, or infrastructure investment decisions
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools and environments
  • Background in consumer segmentation, demographic overlays, or competitive analysis
  • Experience building visualizations and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, or GIS-integrated platforms)
  • Exposure to cloud migration or modernization initiatives within a telecom environment
Why Join?

This is a rare opportunity to join a newly formed, high-visibility team where your analysis directly shapes infrastructure investment and network strategy at a national scale. You won't just be running queries โ€” you'll be influencing decisions. All from a 100% remote setup.
