Job Summary
Allied Instrumentation is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to support our growing sales organization by delivering accurate, timely, and technically sound quotations for industrial process instrumentation, safety, and control system solutions. This role serves as a critical link between customers, Account Managers, manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure customer requirements are properly evaluated and translated into competitive proposals.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and OEM requirements. This position plays a key role in helping customers solve process challenges by providing engineered solutions utilizing industry-leading product lines and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Quotation & Proposal Development
  • Review and evaluate customer RFQs, specifications, datasheets, and project requirements.
  • Develop accurate and competitive quotations for process instrumentation, analytical equipment, gas detection, valve automation, and related industrial solutions.
  • Utilize NetSuite and internal systems to generate detailed pricing, cost analysis, and customer proposals.
  • Verify pricing, lead times, technical specifications, and manufacturer requirements prior to quote submission.
  • Ensure proposals align with customer expectations, OEM guidelines, and project requirements.

Technical Sales Support
  • Partner closely with Account Managers to understand customer applications, project scope, and commercial objectives.
  • Assist customers and sales personnel in product selection, sizing, configuration, and technical application support.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and process requirements to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for instrumentation, controls, safety systems and related industrial products.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain technical information, special pricing, and application guidance.

Customer Service & Project Coordination
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding quotations, product capabilities, lead times, and technical specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams throughout the quotation process.
  • Track RFQs, opportunities, and customer interactions through NetSuite and company ticketing systems.
  • Support order handoff and project execution activities as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and Allied Instrumentation product offerings.
  • Participate in manufacturer training programs and technical development opportunities.
  • Identify process improvements that enhance quote accuracy, responsiveness, and overall customer experience.

Qualifications
Preferred Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in technical sales, inside sales, estimating, applications engineering, instrumentation, automation, controls, valve, or industrial process industries.
  • Experience reviewing technical specifications, drawings, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.
  • Familiarity with industrial instrumentation, process control equipment, analytical systems, gas detection, valves, actuators, or related technologies.
  • Experience using ERP or CRM systems, preferably NetSuite.
