Job description

Role Overview
Own technical execution, requirements compliance, and gap closure for BESS projects in Puerto Rico, Chile, Dominican Republic, the USA, and data center applications. Review grid code documents, contracts, technical specifications, and project documentation to determine whether the system, equipment, controls, and solution comply with project and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on execution role. The person must identify gaps, define closure paths, develop the technical and commercial proposal, and drive alignment across engineering, procurement, controls, project management, vendors, customers, and field teams until closure.
Requirements
• Review grid code documents, contracts, technical specifications, scopes of work, design documents, vendor submittals, and customer requirements.
• Assess whether the BESS solution, equipment selection, controls architecture, system design, and commissioning approach comply with grid code, contract, and project requirements.
• Perform compliance gap analysis and identify technical, equipment, controls, documentation, testing, commissioning, commercial, or scope gaps.
• Define practical closure options, including design changes, equipment changes, controls changes, modeling support, testing, documentation, site work, or change-order scope.
• Develop technical and commercial proposals by coordinating input from engineering, procurement, controls, project management, vendors, customers, and field teams.
• Review equipment compatibility, sizing, and selection for batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, auxiliary systems, controls, communications, and site interfaces.
• Support procurement with technical inputs, vendor clarifications, equipment release decisions, and resolution of open engineering issues.
• Create, respond to, and close RFIs by providing clear technical direction and coordinating stakeholders to closure.
• Use Jira, email, meetings, and direct cross-functional engagement to obtain support, drive accountability, and move open issues forward.
• Support commissioning planning, FAT/SAT readiness, field testing, test-procedure development, site mobilization, and field issue resolution.
• Work with controls teams to close issues related to plant controller behavior, inverter settings, communications, operating modes, and field execution.
• Identify risks early and prevent avoidable gaps from becoming procurement delays, construction blockers, commissioning rework, change-order disputes, or customer escalations.
• Travel to project sites and vendor factories in Chile, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the USA, and other locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Controls, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in project engineering, BESS, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, commissioning, controls, grid compliance, or utility-scale project execution.
• Experience reviewing grid code requirements, contracts, technical specifications, scopes of work, vendor submittals, and design documents.
• Experience with compliance reviews, technical gap analysis, equipment compatibility review, and project requirement traceability.
• Familiarity with batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, PPC/EMS, auxiliary systems, communications, controls interfaces, and site integration.
• Ability to develop technical recommendations and commercial proposals to close gaps in scope, equipment, design, controls, testing, or commissioning.
• Experience supporting RFIs, procurement inputs, technical clarifications, test procedures, commissioning documentation, and field issue closure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including professional email communication and the ability to influence progress across teams without direct authority.
• Experience using Jira or similar tools to manage actions, owners, priorities, risks, decisions, and closure status.
• Valid work authorization and ability to obtain or maintain required visas for international travel to project sites, customer locations, and vendor factories.
