Mission Systems Engineering Manager

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) is seeking a Mission Systems Engineering Manager to lead Mission Systems teams across multiple E-7 programs in Tukwila, WA or Oklahoma City, OK. We are expanding our portfolio and are looking for a leader capable of integrating across all engineering disciplines and suppliers with timely decision making, sound judgement, innovation and leadership.

The E-7 is the world's most advanced,capableand reliable Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, having proven itself in operations around the world. Theaircraftis designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It can provide situational awareness and direct other assets such as fighter jets and warships.This position will workacross multiple E-7A programs supporting development of new capabilities for the E-7A program. The position will lead the development and integration of mission systems, including but not limited to Flight Deck Avionics, Communication, Navigation, Mission Computing, Displays and AEW&C sensors.

A successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, adapt quickly to a fast-paced dynamic environment, and demonstrate strong written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. The role requires working independently and effectively with external customers and subcontractors in a multi-site, multi-discipline environment. The ideal candidate excels in both technical engineering excellence and as an engaging, motivating people leader.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead Mission Systems development using sound engineering approaches and processes, collaborating with other disciplines to derive functional and performance requirements.
  • Interface cooperatively with suppliers and customers to develop mission systems subsystems.
  • Develop Mission System capabilities from concepts to mature subsystem designs integrated into the platform.
  • Leverage the experience and skills of senior engineers while mentoring early career employees.
  • Own and manage execution of the Mission Systems Statement of Work for the E-7 program, including CDRL deliverables, requirements development, architecture development, and system design.
  • Actively partner with program leadership to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Manage cost, schedule execution, and hand-offs between the customer and internal teams.
  • Actively manage risks, issues, and opportunities through program processes.
  • Excel in technical engineering acumen while serving as an engaging and motivating people leader.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to workonsiteat one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must hold an Active U.S Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams, involving key stakeholder relationship management.
  • 5+ years of experience applying engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working within a fast-paced team environment, which required strong communication skills to frequently interact with leadership or internal and external customer representatives.
  • Experience with schedule and budget management, integration of all logistics elements, customer communication, as well as understanding of execution of program planning to ensure cost, schedule, and technical baseline requirements are met.
  • Experience with military aircraft modification programs or other aerospace defense platforms
  • Experience in engineering of large-scale systems
  • Experience working proposals and program start up activities.
  • Experience developing/implementing strategic plans.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Experience with entire lifecycle of mission system development, including qualification, delivery and testing
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers.
