Description
Phoenix, SHINE Technologies is seeking a Part-time Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician will support Radiography operations utilizing an accelerator-based neutron source at our Imaging Center. You will provide technical support for the operations of new and ongoing experiments involving engineering evaluation, fabrication, assembly, and documentation with a focus on non-destructive testing.
Primary hours for this position will be Saturday and Sunday with some work on Monday-Wednesday.
The base salary range for this position is $23.00 - $29.00 per hour plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform radiographic operations and maintenance using radiographic film, direct reading flat panel detectors, phosphor storage imaging plates, and scanning equipment.
  • Provide general technical support to engineering, scientific, and technical staff to plan and conduct experiments at the Imaging Center and other off-site locations.
  • Operate, maintain, assemble, and disassemble moderately complex electrical and mechanical components and systems, using work control process and procedure requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes in solving mechanical problems.
  • Participate/maintain training and qualification program for radioactive material and explosives handling certification.
  • Perform system upgrades, testing equipment, radiation surveys, recuring maintenance, and interlock systems checks.
  • Identify, analyze, and provide solutions and alternate approaches to complex problems using independent creativity and judgment.

Requirements
  • High School Degree required.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a technical environment preferred.
  • Ability to certify and maintain certification as a NAS 410 Neutron Radiography Level I.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Desire to learn innovative technologies and concepts.
  • Knowledge of office computer software, including word processing and spreadsheets necessary to produce supportive documentation and graphics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, and ability to work effectively with all levels of management, technical, engineering, and scientific staff.
  • Work experience involving radiography of munitions, explosives, and other critical components and the interpretation of these radiographs is preferred.
  • Ability to pass medical examination as required for NDT personnel.
  • Ability to pass a background check and be eligible for licensure through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant's ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant's eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
