The Systems Engineering organization within the Honeywell Aerospace Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) business has a need for an Engineering Manager to lead development and process assurance of systems engineering tools and processes. As the product development lifecycle becomes increasingly complete[JB1] , digital engineering solutions are needed to transform the business into a digital first, model-based enterprise.
The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers to develop, maintain, and enforce governance of systems engineering tools and processes. The manager will lead the team to develop cross-domain tool solutions to connect MBSE, requirements, project management, and domain specific physics analyses into a digitally threaded ecosystem, with a particular focus on requirements management, lifecycle management, digital thread, and configuration management tools and processes. Critical capabilities include leadership, project management, configuration management, development assurance, and tool development. This role will report directly to the Sr. Director of Systems Engineering. Direct span of control 10-15 engineers.
Responsibilities

  • Define systems engineering processes for digital integration, configuration management, and development assurance consistent with ARP4754.
  • Capture best practices and pain points from the various E&PS engineering organizations and implement solutions into the revised process and toolset.
  • Define tool solutions to enable more advanced processes focused on data rather than documents, implement MBSE, automate error checking, enforce configuration management, and automate certification/qualification document generation.
  • Enable the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into work processes and tools.
  • Work with the systems chief engineer to develop and achieve the strategic roadmap.
  • Work with the systems engineering architecture team, systems analysis teams, digital transformation workstreams, and the configuration management function to build and implement tool solutions
  • Author work instructions and training to the E&PS organization.
  • Support and influence the Aero level transformational activities to define cross-Aero solutions.
  • Perform development assurance activities consistent with ARP4754

  • Direct experience in compliance to ARP4754 and associated development assurance processes.
  • Strong background in requirements-based engineering and configuration management of requirements data.
  • Understanding of certification regulations, guidance, and typical qualification expectations.
  • Strong knowledge of available engineering tools, their capabilities, and methods.
  • Knowledge of MBSE and digital thread techniques to enhance development assurance and accelerate engineering development.
  • Ability to address the intersection of organizational and human behavior with process definition to minimize development errors while avoiding undue process burden.
