At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, we are driven by innovation and integrity. Lockheed Martin MIC2 in Manassas, VA is looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineering Manager for the SQQ-89 engineering team where we integrate software, hardware, and data science to develop advanced solutions that enable our customers to rapidly field new capabilities and combat the latest threats of today.
The Work
This manager will have both technical and non-technical responsibilities and be directly integrated with the SQQ89 program.
Technical responsibilities may include:
Technical engagements and presentations with internal leadership and external customers
Technical leadership and coordination across all aspects of the SQQ89 program portfolio
Proactively tear down any technical barriers, real or perceived
Communication of technical information at all technical/non-technical levels (entry level to directors/VPs/Customers)
Prior team leadership and/or management experience
Demonstrated ability to motivate, energize and guide engineering teams
Proposal writing and basis-of-estimate experience
Functional responsibilities include:
Assignment of work tasks, providing performance appraisals, career planning, and training development required for direct reports.
Conduct staffing and work force planning to support current and anticipated projects, including interviewing and hiring personnel as required. Coordinate staffing requirements closely with Chief Engineer's team.
Define, communicate and coordinate staffing priorities as well as funding requirements with the appropriate project leads.
Act as a stakeholder for programs ensuring domain area is appropriately represented. Review and approve functional proposal inputs including BOEs and scopes of work.
Own, execute, and status department level initiatives.
Change agent in responsible area with focus on affordability and advancing technical capabilities and innovation.
Develop and support process improvement goals and objectives and opportunity development.
